Searches Without Warrants - Consent - Authority to Consent
A
The consent of one party to search the premises owned or possessed by another is valid of the consentor had equal rights to use or occupation
Landlord/Innkeeper cannot consent
Employer: employee work area but not areas with reasonable expectation of privacy
Parent: Open question
Spouse/Roommate/Co-user: Limitation where area searched is not common area; bedroom, closet, drawer
Here hotel manager could NOT consent.
