Anticipate what suspect might do (CASE); determine points of opposition; communicate with other officers; handcuff and search; render aid

Dwindling number of officers and increased coverage area

Is it warranted; what are the safety risks; do I know the area

Friendly; sightseeing; agitated/hostile
When approaching a crowd or mob, be alert for?
Number of people, possible entrapments, moods of crowd members
How can the home be a dangerous place?
More violent crimes occur inside of home; more violence between family members than among strangwrs
How should an officer handle a domestic intervention?
Arrive on scene and start thinking about underlying issues and formulate a possible resolution; if necessary remove children from jome

Why should you listen at the door for 20-30 seconds before knocking ?
For officer safety and info on the dispute
What are the responding unit’s responsibilities during a dv call?
Restore order and take control of weapons; separate parties by sight and sound; identify all persons
What areas should an officer avoid because of weapon opportunity?
Kitchen, soft furniture, bedrooms
