What is a Reconnaissance
A
A preliminary inspection or survey, to get an overall picture of the scene, without disturbing the evidence.

Steps for conducting a reconnaissance
A
- Gather info from staff at scene, witnesses, victim
- Est. CAP - without disturbing scene
- Sketch scene and note anything of significance
- Take action to preserve evidence - weather/animals
- Reconsider scene boundaries
- Consider placement of zones (hot, warm, cold)

- Ensure integrity and continuity with correct recording, packaging, sealing and labelling.
