What is situational crime prevention
A
Involves making it difficult for criminals to commit crimes by increasing the risk of being caught, and making the crime more difficult or less rewarding to perpetrate

What are examples of situational crime prevention
A
- use of surveillance cameras and security guards in shops
- colour tagging clothes
- installation of anti-virus software
- use of UV lights in bathrooms in order to decrease opportunity for drug use
Real life example: Greater number of police in areas such as King’s Cross where majority of drunken, one punch assaults occur

A
involves measures which attempt to address the underlying social factors which may lead to criminal behaviour, including lack of skills or socioeconomic disadvantage

A
