what does crime refer to?
any form of action that results in breaking a written, formal agreed rule in society
what does deviance refer to?
behaviour which at a specific time and in a specific place is seen as wrong, it may or may not be a crime

the formal or informal ways in which power is exerted over and individual or group

to any rules which are agreed upon but not written down

behaviours that are accepted in certain situations but may not be in others

wearing a bikini at the beach verses in the classroom

in most parts of the world the “okay” sign is acceptable, in Brazil this is considered an extremely rude gesture
what does historical mean in crime and deviance?
refers to how criminal action and deviant behaviour changes over times; what was once acceptable may become illegal or deviant and what was once deviant or illegal may become acceptable
what does generational mean in crime and deviance?
certain behaviours may be acceptable for some age groups but not others
