- punishment systems are repressive state apparatus (RSA). Keeping proletariat in their place and oppressed.
2.punishment in modern society is 2 tiered becuase people of different economic treated differently . eg mc can pay compensation
- Prison mimics the workplace- put to work 24 hrs , people in power control your routine
is prison an effective form of punishment?
- prison populations are growing. since 1993 it has doubled
- 2/3 of offenders reoffend , majority
- Vulnerable people placed under control of multiple instituions , doesnt help rehab them
What are the alternatives to prison?
