Rapid Depressurisation / Emergency Descent

A

— After identifying the malfunction —
PF: “Emergency Descent”

BOTH:

  • Oxygen Mask – ON/100%
  • Mic Switch – MASK
  • – Establish communications —
  • Hot Mic switch – OFF / Use interphone when required

CAPTAIN: “Attention, this is the captain, rapid descent” (OM-A5)

PM:

  • FASTEN BELTS – ON
  • Advise ATC: “JETEX xxxD Emergency Descent”

PF:

  • Altitude selector – 10,000ft
  • ALT SEL
  • “10,000ft ALT SEL”

PM: “ALT SEL”

PF:

  • Select IAS mode
  • Power levers – Flight Idle (very slowly/gently)
  • Condition levers – MAX
  • IAS – VMO (wind the wheel up)
  • “IAS ___”
  • – If structural integrity is in doubt, limit airspeed —

PM:

  • Transponder – 7700
  • Approach lights – ON
  • (TCAS – BLW)

PF: At an appropriate time request the checklist
PM: Action the checklist

Engine Failure In-Flight

A

PF: Disengage the autopilot, trim the aircraft, the autopilot may then be reengaged

PF: Request max power
PM:
- Condition levers – MAX
- Power levers – Rating detent

PF: “Engine Failure/Fire/Shutdown Checklist”

If the engine is still producing power, the Pilot Monitoring should take care to move the Power Lever and Condition Lever slowly in order to prevent excessive yaw.

Evacuation

A

“Evacuation” Immediate Actions

  • Emerg Brake – Set
  • Power levers – Disc
  • Condition levers – Fuel Off
  • Pull Fuel/Hyd Off handles – Pull
  • Emergency Lights – On

Prior to the evacuation PA, the Captain shall confirm the engines are shut down and Propeller RPM is indicating approximately zero

• Fasten Seat Belts – Off
• Evacuation – Initiate

  • AC/DC Ext Pwr and APU – Off
  • Battery Master – Off
