Aircraft Control Recovery Flashcards
Terrain Avoidance Procedure
PF:
- “Terrain, set power”
- GA button – Select
- Power levers – Rating detent
- Pitch for 15 (!!) degrees, then target Vref/V2/VGA
PM:
- Condition levers – MAX
- “Power set”
- Monitor Rad Alt and VSI: “___ ft, climbing/descending”
— If aircraft is still descending —
PF: Power levers – FIREWALL
Respect the stick shaker
Do not change configuration
PM: “Clear of terrain”
Windshear
PF:
- “Windshear, set power”
- GA button – Select
- Power levers – Rating detent
- Pitch for FD bars, then target V2/VGA
PM:
- Condition levers – MAX
- “Power set”
- Monitor Rad Alt and VSI: “___ ft, climbing/descending”
— If aircraft is still descending —
PF:
- Power levers – FIREWALL
- Increase pitch (!!), but respect V2/VGA
Respect the stick shaker
Do not change configuration
PM: “Clear of windshear”
High Angle of Attack Recovery
PF:
- “Stall”
- Autopilot – Disengage
- Pitch attitude – Reduce
- Lateral control – Roll wings level
- Power levers – Advance to rating detent
- “Set power”
- Increase airspeed to more than minimum for configuration
PM:
- Condition levers – MAX
- “Power set”
- “Minimum speed is ___”
Upset Recovery
EITHER: “Nose high/low”
PF:
- Autopilot – Disengage
- Correct profile, adjust power, recover
TCAS
TCAS TA: Don’t deviate from an assigned clearance
TCAS RA
PF:
- Autopilot – Disengage
- Pitch to achieve target vertical speed (5 seconds)
- 2.5 seconds to achieve reversal (new RA)
- Return to previous flight profile when clear
PM: “TCAS RA” / “Clear of conflict”
