Proposed by J. J. Thomson in
1904. It was devised shortly after
the discovery of the electron
He assumed the atom as a tiny, spherical and neutral
body which is made up of positively and negatively
charged particles.
These positively charged particles which were later
termed protons, are distributed equally in the atom
and the negatively charged particles (electrons) are
embedded in these particles just like in a
plum-pudding.
