What websites are required by law to give credible information?
government websites (ending in .gov) and websites centered around US colleges and universities (ending in .edu). Military websites (ending in .mil) are also required to give credible info, but don’t mention this in an essay, as they usually don’t provide relevant information.

When are news organizations a credible source?
News organizations can be credible if they are unbiased and if the author has credentials in the specific field of research.

Specified keyword searches involving searching credible websites using keywords directly relating to a specific area of a general topic (ex. climate change action may be ‘climate change action in US states). Keyword searches are effective because they provide specific search results that will directly answer research questions.
What are peer-reviewed academic journal publications?
Peer-reviewed journal publications are another helpful source to refer to for scientific research. These publications present the ideas or findings of a scholar and the critical examinations of another expert in the same field.
What are industry white papers?
Industry white papers, filtered specifically for [insert scientific topic], can provide authoritative and detailed information on the issue as well as a solution and informed and in-depth analysis. White papers are especially helpful for scientific endeavors, such as [insert scientific topic].
What are scholarly books?
Scholarly or informative and comprehensive books on [insert specific topic], written by experts with credentials, can be a reliable source for information.
What are conference proceedings?
Conference proceedings are products created specifically for the purposes of hosting or participating in an academic conference. These proceedings can include research papers, speeches and keynote addresses, and/or presentations.
