creation of devised dialogue Flashcards
what did i hone in on when creating something’s coming dialogue
the idea of making the piece make sense and providing a strong emotional base for the song to grow from.
what 2 main ideas did you want to present in something’s coming dialogue
-superstitious nature and where it came from
-the negative life he’s lived and the fact he wants to improve it
how does the tying the tie aspect of the dialogue satisfy the second bullet poinnt
- shows how he grew up with a largely absent guiding figure
- most likely grew up in a working class background
- establishes that he is now trying to change himself and become a more upstanding member of society
where did you get the idea tony is superstitious
from the song. - he is looking out to everything to try and. call to him and guide him
how did you rationalise tony’s superstitious behaviours in the dialogue
showing that his mother died. and that he never had a guiding light so turned to superstition to lead him through life.
what were the main ideas going into creating the why god why dialogue
chris isnt trusting anything
chris is dealing with intense division over his patriotism
chris’ militarism is embedded inside of him - he can’t break out of that mindset
how did you present the idea of chris not trusting his enviroment
uncertain phrases such as ‘i could’ or ‘i guess’ which make it so he isnt really 100% sure about any of the things he’s saying - also like i said earlier shows the instability of his position, something new to him.
explain the chris divisions thing
-he represents. america
-he criticises america
-he is reluctant to do so, representing the division he feels within himself
how did you show chris criticising america
honed in on the protection side of it all, as chris has always felt protected by suburban america nad now is exposed to the nasty side of it all
order of the cussings
line delivery 0 falling off of the word protect
how did you show chris as a marine
use of military time
he is literally about to go to bed - military ideals of kill or be killed have been engrained into him, providing rationale for why he is having such a dramatic reaction to this song.
what did you want to hone in when creating santa fe dialogue and why was this important
reaction
how a character responds to an event can tell you so much about their mindset, how they think and etc
what did you take into consideration to decide what Jack’s reaction was.
his age
his life experience
how did age factor into his reaction
he is only young, 17
all emotions are heightened at his age
derived that his. reaction would be uncontrolled and emotional
what life experience has jack had
he didnt know what a union was
he has gotten into a routine and is used to the stable and stability all around him, both physically and mentally being good at everything
how did life experience factor into his reaction
he’s upset!! he’s obviously just gone through this massive event that disrupts his entire life and is basically his fault and
