Tradition- The lives and writings of inspired christians
Magisterium- The Pope and the Bishops who are authorised to interpret scripture and tradition.

What does the book of Law tell us in the Old testament?
The Law tells how the Jews became the people of God and the ‘laws’ God wanted them to follow.
What does the book of history tell us in the old testament?
Shows how God guided the Jews and they refused to listen. Helped later generations to not make the same mistakes.
What does the book of Wisdom tell us in the old testament?
Helps people understand their faith and please God.
What does the book of prophecy tell us in the old testament?
The books of prophets who inspired people to stay faithful to God.
What does the book of Gospels tell us in the new Testament?
Cover the actions and teachings of Jesus.
What does the Epistles tell us in the new testament?
They were letters written by the Apostles and discuss how to follow Jesus’ teachings in everyday life.
What does the book of revelation tell us in the new testament?
Written by the Apostle John. It includes his own mystical visions, which some christians believe describe the end of the world.
What does the Catholic church teach about the Genesis creation stories?
They are myths
What is a myth?
A simple story which tells us important deep truths. (Not a myth in the sense of being untrue)
What does Genesis 2 tell us about the nature of humans?
Humans share the ‘spirit of God’
God gives human free will
What is a quote that proves that humans share the spirit of God?
“Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being”
How do humans share the ‘spirit of God’
Genesis 2:8 explains how God made humans in his image.
God created Adam, the first man, by breathing into him.
The hebrew word for ‘breath’ is ru’ach, which is also translated as ‘spirit’
How did God give humans free will?
God made the garden of Eden for Adam to live in.
God tells Adam he can eat from any tree except from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
He gives adam a choice the free will to decide for himself whether or not to eat from the tree.
What can we achieve using a mix of science and Religion?
Fuller, rounder picture of the world.
