Frontal Lobe
Front part of brain; planning, organizing, problem solving, personality and higher cognitive functions
Temporal Lobe
Memory and sorting new info; evaluating hearing input and sense of smell
Parietal Lobe

Intracerebral Hemorrhage (ICH)
Blood suddenly bursts into brain tissue, causing damage to the brain
Brain/Cerebral Aneurysm
Bulging, weak area in the wall of an artery that supplies blood to the brain
Chiari Malformation
Brain tissue extends into the spinal canal
Skull Fracture
Break in one or more of the eight bones that form the cranial portion of the skull; result of blunt force trauma
Brain Tumor
Primary brain tumors: astrocytoma, meningioma and oligodendroglioma
Ventricular Approach
Puncture made through the top portion of the skull
Cisternal Approach
Puncture made at the base of the skull
Craniotomy
Any bony opening cut into the skull or when a section of the skull is removed to access the brain
Supratentorial Region
Upper part of brain; contains cerebrum
