what type of nerve is the Olfactory nerve and what is its function?
sensory - responsible for sense of smell
what type of nerve is the Optic nerve and what is its function?
sensory - responsible for visual acuity
what type of nerve is the Oculomotor nerve and what is its function?
motor - responsible for most eye movements and pupillary constriction
what type of nerve is the Trochlear nerve and what is its function?
motor - responsible for downward, outward, and inward eye movement
what type of nerve is the Trigeminal nerve and what is its function?
sensory and motor - responsible for facial sensation and chewing
what type of nerve is the Abducens nerve and what is its function?
motor - responsible for outward eye movement
what type of nerve is the Facial nerve and what is its function?
sensory and motor - responsible for taste in the anterior 2/3 of tongue and facial movements
what type of nerve is the Vestibulocochlear nerve and what is its function?
sensory - responsible for hearing and balance
what type of nerve is the Glossopharyngeal nerve and what is its function?
sensory and motor - responsible for taste in the posterior 1/3 of tongue, gag reflex, pharyngeal muscles, and parotid gland
what type of nerve is the Vagus nerve and what is its function?
sensory and motor - responsible for thoracic and abdominal organ sensation, gag reflex, and pharyngeal muscles
