CRANIAL NERVES Flashcards
name all the cranial nerves and their Roman numerals and their modalities
I Olfactory - sensory
II optic - sensory
III occulomotor - motor
IV trochlea - motor
V trigeminal - both
VI abducens - motor
VII facial - both
VIII vestibulocochlea - sensory
IX glossopharyngeal - both
X Vagus - both
XI spinal accessory - motor
XII - hypoglossal - motor
which CNs exit anteriorly, posteriorly and laterally
posteriorly –> IV torchlea
laterally –> VIII vestibulocochlea
anteriorly –> the rest
motor and sensory component of the cranial nerves
motor component is associated with motor nuclei, a group of efferent fibers sending axons to the CN
Sensory component is associated with the sensory nuclei, a group of afferent fibers that synapse with the sensory neurone of the CN
