Stabbing and burning facial pain, excruciating. Twitching of facial muscles.

5th cranial nerve.

Administer carbamazepine. Chew on opposite side of mouth. Avoid rubbing eye.

Question 2

Bell’s palsy (facial paralysis)

Answer 2

Inability to close eye. Increase lacrimination. Speech difficulty. Loss of taste. Distortion of one side of face.

7th cranial nerve.
