CN II – Optic (Sensory)
Motor to four extraocular muscle; elevated eyelid; pupillary reactions
CN III – Oculomotor (Motor)
Motor to superior oblique for downward, lateral of the EYE
CN IV – Trochlear (Motor)
Sensory from surface of head n neck, sinuses, meninges, tympanic membranes.
Motor to muscle of mastication
CN V – Trigeminal (Both)
Motor to lateral rectus for lateral deviation of the eye.
CN VI – Abducens (Motor)
Motor to muscle of facial expression; parasympathetic supply to many glands of head; sensation around external ear; taste from 2/3 of tongue and palate; close eyelid and protective blinking.
CN VII – Facial (Both)
Sense of balance and hearing
CN VIII – Vestibulocochlear (Sensory)
Salvation; elevate pharynx during swallowing and speech taste from posterior 1/3 of tongue; monitor blood pressure.
CN IX – Glossopharyngeal (Both)
Motor to pharynx; parasympathetic supply to thoracic and abdominal viscera; sensory from pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi and viscera.
CN X – Vagus (Both)
Motor muscle of the tongue
CN XII –Hypoglossal (Motor)
