What does a victim have to have to receive CPR?
A victim has to be:
Breathless
Pulseless
Unconscious
Why might a victim need CPR?
- allergic reaction
- heart attack
- alcohol/drug abuse
- stroke
- choking
- trauma
- drowning
What is the Good Samaritan Act?
It protects people as long as you act according to your training
What is consent?
It determines if you can provide CPR or not, you always have to ask.
If you can’t ask, consent is implied
What is negligence?
Intentionally doing something wrong
What is abandonment?
Leaving the victim after you started to help
How many times do we breathe in a minute?
12 times per minute (approximately), once every 5 seconds
How many times per minute does our heart beat?
72-80 times per minute (approximately)
Why do we need to breathe and for our heart to beat? After what time will the brain deteriorate without oxygen?
We breathe because we need oxygen and our heart beats to circulate oxygenated blood to all parts of the body.
