What topics must be considered when completing an Initial Joint Investigation Plan (IJIP)?

A
  • Immediate safety of the child involved and any others at risk.
  • If a joint visit is required due to risk of further offending, loss of evidence, the alleged offender is likely to be hostile, any other concerns for staff safety.
  • The management of the initial interview of the child
  • Referral to a medical practitioner and authority to do so
  • Collection of physical evidence such as photographs
  • any further actions agreed for Police and/or OT including considerations as to whether a multi-agency approach is required.

What are the Oranga Tamariki case assessment Timeframes?

A

Critical - 24 Hours - Children immediate risk of serious harm.
1
Very Urgent - 48 Hours - Children are at risk of serious harm but there are some protective factors present for the next 48 hours.

Urgent - 7 Days - Children at risk of harm or neglect and the circumstances are likely to negatively impact on them.
