CP7-8 Forces doing Work and their effects Flashcards
Work Done
Energy is transferred whenever things happen. Energy can also be transferred by a force which is known as work done
Work Done Formula:
Work(J) = Force X Distance moved (m)
Done (N) Direction of force
Power
Power is the rate at which energy is transferred. Power is measured in Watts. 1 Watt is 1 J Of work done p/sec.
Power Formula:
Power(W) =WorkDone(J)/TimeTaken(s)
Objects affecting each other
Contact Forces- If objects are touching. Eg, Gravity
Non contact Force-If objects aren’t touching each other(eg up thrust).
Action-Reaction forces-Pairs of forces acting on different objects, in opposite directions)
Force Field- Space around an object where it can affect other objects
Magnetic Field- The space around a magnet where it can affect other materials is called the magnetic field.
