Gamma,X-ray, Ultraviolet, Visible Light, Infrared, Micro and Radio
Ems under visible light are known as IR waves.
EMS over visible light are UV waves
Waves with higher frequencies have shorter wavelengths.

Microwaves are used for cooking food and for satellite communications.
Infrared light is used by electrical heaters, cookers for cooking food, and by infrared cameras which detect people in the dark.

Using the short Wavelengths

Ultraviolet-Disinfect water by killing microorganisms in it.(Fluorescence- Absorbing UV radiation and re-emit as visible light)
X-Rays-Used in medicine to make images of inside body and used in airports to inspect luggage and metal objects
Gamma Rays- Carry a lot of energy so are used to sterilise food and surgical instruments by killing harmful microorganisms. Also used to kill cancer cells in radiotherapy.

EM Radiation dangers

The higher the frequency of the radiation, the more harmful it will be. HAZARDS:
Microwaves- Cause internal heating of body tissues
Infrared- Felt as heat and can burn skin
X AND GAMMA RAYS-damage cells causing mutations (which may lead to cancer) and cell death
Due to higher amounts of energy and being able to penetrate the body, they can cause this kind of harm(x and gamma)
