- anxiety due to covid

Physical health
- sedentary, decreased physical exercise
- addiction/alcohol— spikes in opioid overdoses in BC, Alberta, Ontario
- reduced screening (potential for more cancer cases in the future)
- reduction in surgeries
- reduction in dental visits
- long-term physical consequences for those who have had covid, some of which under investigation or maybe haven’t been realized yet: problems with memory/concentration, chronic fatigue, muscle pain, myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle)
Addiction, alcohol
Public health measures
Masking
Physical distancing (avoiding crowds)
Proper hand washing and sanitization
Cough/ sneezing hygiene
Good ventilation
Vaccine hesistancy role play
Be open minded and non judgemental
Acknowledge that it’s normal to be fearful of something new
Ask them open ended questions ie what are your feelings about it? Why? Where do you go for information about it? What are your specific fears?
“Developed too fast, they cut corners” (speed due to extra funding, still followed process, did proper testing, and was scrutinized by many experienced scientists, including regulatory bodies like the FDA)
“Side effects” (I see your concern. There have been a few cases of side effects. These are rare. They are usually minor, like swelling or fever. Compared to being sick with covid 19, they are not as severe.)
