What does dispensationalism entail?
It is a method of interpreting history that divides God’s work towards mankind into different periods of time.
What is a dispensation
A dispensation is a management relationship between God and humanity, in which God manages the way human beings are to relate to Him and to each other.
What is a covenant?
An agreement or binding contract between two or more parties.
What are the Greek and Hebrew words for covenant?
Greek: ‘diatheke’
Hebrew: ‘berith’
Describe and explain what the two types of covenants mentioned in the Bible are.
Conditional covenants, which require human fulfillment of conditions, and unconditional covenants, which are solely based on God’s promises.
Give an example of a conditional covenant.
Isaiah 1:19-20
If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land; but if you resist and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
Give an example of an unconditional covenant.
Genesis 9:11
I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.
How is Jesus recognised in relation to God’s covenants? Provide supporting scriptures.
Jesus is the fulfilment of God’s covenants and is the Guarantor and Mediator of the New Covenant. (Hebrews 9:15)
