Q

Ionic compounds structure

A

They have a giant structure with a lattice pattern. Made up of negative and positive charges but have no overall charge. There are strong bonds ( EFOA) between the ions and a lot of them which means a lot of energy is needed to overcome these bonds. This is why they have a high melting point

Q

Covalent bonds

A

Are also strong however the intermolecular forces between the the molecules is weak. This is why they have boiling points
