Why Manchester? (Course)
•course is very unique
*where you get to start clinical experience very early (theory into practice = helps me learn better e.g school practicals)
*TBL and EBL = you can be more independent as you can research more in depth. You can learn from others and you work in a team which is very important in a dental clinic
*cadavers are used which allows you to be more hands on and see things better = help with learning as I am a more visual learner
Why Manchester? (Uni)
•Manchester has so many societies and I would love to join k-pop society as I love dancing and would love to be part of the performances (konstellate) which I viewed on a visit to Manchester. I’ve been dancing for 6 years and would love to continue this passion
•many volunteering opportunities e.g stellify so I would love to continue to volunteer in uni as it will help me become more diverse and see global challenges more holistically = help me improve skills such as leadership and helping wider community
•Manchester has extensive international connections = I would love to take part in the global graduate programme and be able to network and even explore different languages and cultures (this allows you to build soft skills outside of dentistry)
Why Manchester? (City)
•there is lots of entertainment
•many restaurants that I will be able to eat at with friends
•arena near by so I can enjoy concerts
•it is a very diverse place where you see people of all backgrounds/races/cultures= as a dentists you must be able to accommodate to a diverse range of people and be able to empathise and talk to all
What can you bring to this dental school?
•I think if I were to be accepted I would be a great asset as I am a great team player and I would really be able to immerse myself into the team environment required for all students as well as in a dental setting
•I am interested in taking part in different societies most specifically for dance as it is one of my biggest passions and I would love to part of a dance team (it is something I have always wanted to do and in uni I will have a way to easily get involved)
•I would also love to get involved in… (specific uni=volunteering/programmes)
Why king’s college London? (Course)
•doing more research into the course I understand that KCL has a balanced approach between theory based learning and clinical experience so that you are able to get involved in patient care very soon (this suits my learning style as after I’ve integrated my knowledge very well, I then like to get involved in more hands on things as I can really put theory into practice and understand what I am doing as I am doing it)
•KCL also focuses on whole patient care rather than just individual treatment so that you are able to get a glimpse of being a dentist will entail as you have to provide holistic care and this helps you also to build strong relationships
