Cost of electricity Flashcards
1
Q
What is the current charge for 1 kwh of power?
A
14.895 cents
2
Q
How do you calculate the cost of electricity?
A
1: if not already in kwh(kilowatt hours) convert watts by dividing by 1000
1500 watts ÷ 1000 = 1.5 kwh
2: times kwh by time period in hours. If in minutes, convert to hours
1.5 kwh (15 min × 20 days)=1.5kwh (300 min) = 1.5 kwh (5 h)= 7.5 kwh
3. Times kwh by current cost
7.5 kwh (14.895 cents) = 111.7125 cents
4. Divide by 100 to turn cents to dollars
111.7125÷100 =1.12 dollars
Formula: ((kwh × time period)× cost)÷ 100
3
Q
What does kwh stand for?
A
Kilowatt hours
4
Q
How does induction work?
A
Induction creates electricity by spinning magnets around wires or wires around magnets
