What is the function of the motor cortex
In the frontal lobe, Responsible for voluntary movements by sending signals to the muscles of the body
What is the function of the somatosensory area
In the parietal lobe, Receives incoming sensory information from the skin to produce sensations such as pressure or pain
What is the function of the visual cortex
In the occipital lobe, Receives and processes visual information
What is the function of the auditory cortex
In the temporal lobe, Responsible for analysing and processing acoustic information
What is the function of Broca’s area
Responsible for speech production
What is Broca’s aphasia?
Damage to the Broca’s area in the left frontal lobe. This results in slow, inarticulate speech
What is Wernicke’s region?
Responsible for language processing/comprehension
