Q

Describe Pearsons Product Moment Correlation coefficient (Pearsons’r)

A
  • range of 1 to -1 called a coefficient
  • it simply tells us two things about the relationship between two variables
  • direction and strength of the relationship

Q

what are the elements of a relationship?

A
  • a correlation coefficient gives us a measure of strength of the relationship
  • how much the variables vary together
  • the further the score away from 0 the stronger the relationship

Q

Describe Kendall’s Tau

A

works well with small data sets with lots of tied ranks
- preferred by staticians
- non parametric alternative

Q

describe Spearman’s correlation coefficient

A

works well with large data sets (with fied tied ranks)
- rank each data set then correlate rank
- no normality assumption
