Q

How can we increase Oxygen supply?

A

-Increase arterial oxygen content
-Increase coronary blood flow:
increase pressure, HR, wall tension, inotropy (muscle contraction)

Q

What is Myocardial Ischaemia?

A

Develops whern the blood supply to the myocardium is not sufficient to meet metabolic demands. Not enough blood means not enough Oxygen

Q

What is the difference between ‘supply ischaemia’ and ‘demand ischemai’

A

Supply ischaemai is when the supply < demand = absolute reduction in blood flow at rest
Dmenad ischemai is when the Demand > supply = ok at rest but when demand increases e.g. excercise then supply isn’t sufficient.

Q

What is Myocardial ischamia associated with in most cases?

A

In >95% of cases, myocardial ischaemia is associated with a critical stenosis which is a serious narrowing of the artery resulting in a significant reduction in maximal flow capacity.
