Coronary Arteries and Cardiac Veins Flashcards
Left aortic sinus
Left coronary artery
Right aortic sinus
Right coronary sinus
RCA
RA RV SAN AVN interatrial septum some of LA posterior 1/3 of interventricular septum some of posterior LV
LCA
left main stem
short
Left coronary artery - two terminal branches
Circumflex
Anterior interventricular
Circumflex artery branches
left marginal
posterior left ventricular
LCA branches
circumflex coronary artery
diagonal artery
LAD - left anterior interventricular
LCA supply areas
Most of LA
Most of LV
Most of interventricular septum - AV bundle + branches
end arteries
do not interconnect - any anastomoses are poor
borders between viable + infarcted myocardium are very distinct in occlusion
Dominance
artery that gives rise to the posterior interventricular artery
- majority = RCA
Coronary artery bypass grafting
Uses saphenous vein + left internal thoracic artery = redirect blood around the blockage
Great cardiac vein
travels with LAD -> circumflex = coronary sinus
Middle cardiac vein
travels with posterior interventricular artery = coronary sinus
Small cardiac vein
travels with RCA into lower anterior section of coronary sulcus = coronary sinus
Lympatic drainage of heart
follows coronary arteries
drain into brachiocephalic + tracheobronchial
