Corky bark in conjunction with

Characteristic
uneven ripening
-the bark of these shoots appears thickened and spongy, have a tendency to bend backwards with tips that grow straight upward
-lengthwise cracks occur mainly in internodal swellings
(induced by excessive proliferation of secondary phloem) at the base of these shoots
-the shedding of the outer bark does not occur in wood that is older than 1y with ongoing development of cracks assuming a thickened, coarse & cracked appearance
Leaves
appear pale yellow early season
smaller than normal and curly slightly inwards
Red grapes
leaves turn red, very early and become dark brown and even purple
