What is the Consensus theory?
A theory that says that everyone in society has a shared goal which they work towards
What is conflict theory?
A theory that states that society is based on the interests of one powerful group
What is Marxism?
The belief that capitalist society is based on inequalities between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat
What is functionalism?
The theory that all aspects of a society serve a function
What is the nanny state?
The belief that the government has too much influence in people’s lives
What is social action theory?
When people see society as the product of human interactions
What is structuralism?
The thought that human behaviour must be understood in the context of the social system
What is superstructure ?
The ideas that are built upon the means of production
What is infrastructure?
The way that society produces goods
What is anomie?
When people have to much freedom, it causes individuals to suffer from uncertainty
What is feminism?
The belief that women and men should have equal opportunities in economic, political, and social life
What is primary socialisation?
When a child learns the attitudes appropriate to individuals
What is secondary socialisation?
The process of learning the appropriate behaviour as a member of a smaller group within the larger society
