core 2 cq4; the learning environment Flashcards
What are performance elements?
Elements that develop as an athlete improves their skill, execution and ability
Moving from cognitive to associative and autonomous
what are the performance elements?
decision making
strategic and tactical development
what are decision making and strategic & tactical development qualities?
qualities that allow athletes to apply their skills in the right situation and ability to perform
how can decision-making be developed?
through observation and practising game-like scenarios
what is observation?
watching other athletes as they perform within decision making situations
- they must process what is happening mentally.
coaches should ask questions such as;
What would you do in this situation?
How would you respond to this?
what is practising game-like scenarios?
exploring various scenarios and recognise the need for effective decision making
e.g. playing small smalls in 2 on 1 situations or playing while fatigued
these place pressure on the athlete to make decisions, preparing for stress they may face
what is strategic and tactical development?
understanding the game and utilising this understanding to gain an advantage over opponents
what is tactical development?
finding ways to gain an advantage over an opponent
how can athletes develop strategic and tactical development?
improving technical efficiency and increasing the understanding of the game
what are the types of feedback?
internal and external
knowledge of results and performance
delayed and concurrent
what is internal feedback?
feedback from within, having awareness of body position and movement in space
this is developed through proprioceptive and kinaesthetic sense
*mainly autonomous
what is external feedback?
feedback from sources such as coaches, video analysis and crowd cheering
helpful for coginitive learners who have not developed proprioceptive or kinaesthetic sense
what is knowledge of results
feedback specific to the outcome of a performance (100m sprint time)
success measured by an external source
what is knowledge of performance
feedback specific to the execution, focused on skill and technique development
this can be both extrinsic and intrinsic (intrinsic is for autonomous/associative stage)
what is delayed feedback?
feedback provided AFTER a skill has been completed
