What is COPD and what are some causes
Predominantly caused by smoking and is characterized by AF0 that is not fully reversible. other causes include: alpha-1 trypsin deficiency and occupational chemicals e.g. coal miners and welders etc
What are some sites of AFO
Large airway damage (bronchitis)
small airway damage and alveolar damage (emphysema)
What are clinical features of COPD
progressive SOB, spirometry confirms AFO, significant smoking history and flat PEFR chart.
What is an intervention for COPD patients
pulmonary rehab: supervised exercise training, a comprehensive educational programme, psychosocial support.
What drugs can be given to COPD patients
B agonists: SABA & LABA
anti-muscarinic: SAMA & LAMA
inahled corticosteroids (ICS)
