What are chemical mediators?
A
Chemicals that are released from certain mammalian cells and have an effect on cells in their immediate vicinity
E.g. Histamine which causes dilation of arteries which causes swelling

What are the two main forms of coordination in mammals?
A
- Nervous system - results in short lived responses in a specific region of the body
- Hormonal system - produced chemicals for transportation to target cells. Results in slower and longer-lasting responses that are widespread
