What is grilling ?
- It’s healthy, it required direct heat from elements in the oven.
- No need for fats or oils and it’s
- recommended to use non-stick paper instead of oil.
What is microwaving ?
- it’s not a desirable way to cook food
- it’s quick
- microwaving foods mutates their cells leading to negative effects on your health
What is frying ?
- a good way to add saturated fats to your meal
- when frying with oil, food absorbs most of the oil
- not very healthy due to all the saturated fats.
What is roasting ?
- usually done with dry heat similar to grilling
- when roasting avoid oils and butter
- can result in dry tasting foods
What is barbecuing ?
- you can cook lean meats , potatoes and veg on a barbaque
What is boiling ?
- the healthiest option for cooking ( with steaming and poaching )
- it used water ( boiling water )
- it transfers the heat from the water directly to the food
- water in the UK is non-toxic so it’s healthy, cheap and simple
What is steaming ?
- slightly better than boiling
- the nutrients from the foods do not leach into the water
- the nutrients remain in the food
What is poaching ?
- similar to boiling
- good for eggs and meats
