What is a tactical convoy?
A tactical convoy is a military operation used to securely move personnel and cargo by ground transportation.
What kind of targets do enemies prefer to target?
Enemies prefer to target soft targets, lines of communications, and supplies.
Who is the convoy commander?
The convoy commander is first in command, leads the convoy, and is responsible for mission planning, preparation, and execution.
What is a general configuration for a tactical convoy?
Tactical convoys are organized into three sections:
Head/Lead
Main body
Trail/Rear
What is the head of a convoy consist of?
The head of a convoy consists of the pace vehicle and a convoy security element. The pace vehicle should be the slowest vehicle.
What does the main body consist of?
The main body should consist of a majority of the other convoy vehicles, having petroleum and ammo vehicles spread throughout. The slowest vehicles should be toward the front of the convoy.
What does the trail consist of?
The trail consists of medical vehicles, rear security, and recovery vehicles.
What can affect a convoy configuration?
Convoy configurations can depend on: METT-TC Counter radio-controlled IED crew Mechanical IED counter Large convoy size
