What is the Enabling Act?
Limits the power of who is making the delegated legislation by stating what can/cannot be done
What are Affirmative Resolutions?
STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS
Debated and voted on before becoming law
Super Affirmative Resolution Procedure = make changes to the SI within 60 days
What is Negative Resolution?
STATUTORY INSTRUMENT
Left in lobby for 40 days if nobody brings to attention of Parliament then goes through
What are Scrutiny Committee’s?
MAIN one = The Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments
Ensure the act doesn’t impose tax/charge, have a retrospective effect, has gone beyond powers, is unclear or defective
