Controlling Parameters Flashcards
Main control loops
- Start up
- Speed/load
- Temperature
- Shutdown
Auxiliary control loops
- IGV
- Manual FSR
- Acceleration
Start up sequence Fire
Supplies sufficient fuel to combustors to provide good ignition
Startup sequence warmup
Reduces the fuel flow rate and hold it constant in order to reduce thermal shock
Startup sequence accelerate
Allow the turbine to accelerate gradually
Starting motor types
- Electric
- Diesel
- Hydraulic
- Expansion turbine
Why do we need to control temperature?
- Safety
- To avoid damages to the GT and to the exhaust duct
Which temperature do we want to control?
Firing temperature is what we want to control
How do we control GT temperature?
Thermocouples
Where do we measure the temperature?
We measure at the exhaust gas temperature
Using the gas law we can calculate the firing temperature moving ideally on the B-J cycle from the exhaust (4th) to the Firing (3rd)
IGV Control curves
IGV temperature control acts allowing more air to enter inside the axial compressor and so inside he combustion chamber that will lower the temperature
Fuel gas control GE system requirement to avoid condensation
Gas has to be heated 50.4 f. Over the dew point at that specific pressure
