Control Positions Flashcards
Control of P & D
Control of P&D is done from two positions:
•Primary Control Position (PCP)
•Secondary Control Position (SCP)
•On the older ships this may be done from the Machinery Control Room (MCR) or the main switchboard (Main SW/BD).
PCP -Primary Control Position
•Primary control positions is located in Ship’s Control Centre.
PCP shows:
- Plan of whole electrical distribution system up to the EDC.
- States of all breakers and generators.
PCP Control positions
PCP Controls/ operates:
- All main breakers
- All generator voltages
- All generator frequencies
- Anti-condensation heaters in switchboard.
SCP Secondary control position
•Secondary control position is located in machinery sections.
SCP shows:
-Plan of electrical distribution system fed from the section
-State of all breakers and generators controlled by the section.
SCP Operations
•SCP controls/operates:
- Breakers controlled by section switchboard.
- Voltages of generators controlled by section switchboard.
- Frequency of generators controlled by section switchboard.
- Anti-condensation heaters in switchboard.
Control positions
Switchboards
•Switchboards primarily for generator indication and control.
•Switchboards also control distribution of power:
-ship generated
-shore supply/ship alongside.
•Accordingly there are a number of meters, controls and indicators.
Control positions:
6 Meters
- Voltmeter
- Frequency meter
- Watt meter
- Ammeter
- Syncroscope
- Earth fault indicator
Control positions
Secondary control positions meters
Propulsion motor meters:
•PM watt meter
•PM amp meter.
Control positions
Controls
- start/stop switch——diesel start
- selector switch ——select generator voltage of frequency
- control switch——PCP/SCP Control
- Discrepancy switch—— open/close breakers.
Indicator lights
- Control available (green)/ Not available (red)
- Generator running (green)
- Fire detected(red)
- Over temperature(yellow)
- Breaker tripped (discrepancy switch illuminates)
- Earth Fault (light indication & audible alarm)
