-provide ground commander w/ aviation advisory personnel
-Exercises terminal attack control for CAS
primary role of airborne coordinators
-Strike coordination and recon - acquire, coordinate, and report destruction of targets
-Tactical air coordinator (airborne) - naval aviator who coordinates actions of combat A/C engaged in close support of ground or sea forces
