CONTROL MALFUNCTIONS Flashcards
Fixed or Restricted Collective Control in Forward Flight
- Airspeed ………………………………. Adjust for level flight. (if possible)
If continued flight is not possible with control malfunction evident (terrain clearance not assured):
- External stores………………………………………… Jettison. (as appropriate)
- FOD interference………………………………………… Check. (time/inflight-conditions permitting)
- AFCS …………………………………………………. Disengage. (inflight conditions permitting)
- Collective …………………………………………………..Adjust. (if possible)
If normal control forces are not restored:
- ACFS AP2 then AP1………………………………….. Engage.
- Land as soon as possible.
Fixed or Restricted Collective Control in Hover OGE with Immediate Landing Possible
- WP-P AUDIO OFF…………………………………………Select.
- ECP TRG mode……………………………………………Select.
- ECP OEI Power SUP (TRG)……………………………Select.
- ECP ENG2 (or ENG1) SLOW………………………….Select.
NR shall droop (not below 290NR). If not descending:
- ECP OEI Power MAX (TRG)…………………………..Select.
If still not descending:
- Collective OEI Power INT (TRG)…………………….Select.
When landed:
- EMER ENG SHUTDOWN…………………………….Perform. (both engines)
Autorotation Landing with Tail Rotor Malfunction
- Airspeed ……………………. Maintain 100 (not 80!) KIAS if possible.
When satisfied that the approach will permit successful completion of the autorotation to the desired landing area:
- EMER ENG SHUTDOWN…………………………….. Perform. (both engines)
- Approx 100 ft RAD ALT ………………………. Initiate flare.
- Landing ……………………………………………Eliminate drift prior to touchdown and reduce forward speed to the minimum possible.
- Collective …………………………………….Cushion landing. (Be prepared for a touchdown with uncontrolled yaw)
Loss of Tail Rotor Thrust or Insufficient Thrust in Hover or Insufficient Thrust at Low Speeds
- Collective ……………………………….. Lower immediately.
At or approaching hover height:
- EEP…………………………………………………….. SHUT OFF. (both engines)
- Collective …………………………………….Cushion landing.
Excessive Tail Rotor Thrust in Hover IGE with Immediate Landing Possible
- Collective ……………………………….. Lower immediately.
- Collective …………………………………….Cushion landing.
- EMER ENG SHUTDOWN…………………………… Perform.
Loss of Tail Rotor Thrust or Loss of Tail Rotor Control in Forward Flight
- Autorotate.
- AUTOROTATION LANDING WITH TAIL ROTOR MALFUNCTION ……………………………………….. Perform.
If continued flight is possible:
- Airspeed ……………………………………Maintain ≥80 KIAS.
