Control and Management Flashcards
What are the purposes of inspection?
To distinguish good from bad lots
To determine if a process is changing
To measure the precision of measuring instruments
To (overall) measure process capability
What are the stages of inspection?
Inspection of incoming materials (aka receiving inspection)
Inspection of the production process
Inspection of finished goods
What are the 2 types of inspection?
100% sampling
SPC (Statistical Process Control)
What is 100% sampling?
Testing every product made (done with custom and high quality products (i.e. medical))
What is SPC?
Statistical Process Control is sampling every product out of a certain number (i.e. every 1 in 100)
What is a control chart?
An SPC method showing how sample values vary over time
What is process capability?
A statistical measure of repeatability and consistency of a manufacturing process relative to customer requirements
What does six sigma/DMAIC do? What are its benefits?
Reduces defects of any kind in a process
Reduces time, defects and variations in a process
