- Known Hypersensitivity
- Bradycardia with inadequate perfusion
- Evidence of 2º or 3º heart block

- Concurrent use of tetracycline antibiotics
- Exceeding total dose of 6mL in 24hr period
- Exceeding total dose of 15mL in 7 days
- Family history of anaesthetic induced malignant hyperthermia
