abide by

ex: Competitors must abide by the judges’ decision
mutual
(of two or more people or groups) feeling the same emotion, or doing the same thing to or for each other

ex: The whole family was in agreement with her about/on what they should do.
assurance
a promise, a guarantee; confident
ex: She gave me her assurance (that) she would sign the contract immediately.
cancellation
the act of deciding that an organized event will not happen or of stopping an order for something
ex: Many trains are subject to cancellation because of the flooding.
influence
the power to have an effect on people or things, or a person or thing that is able to do this
bad/good influence on: Helen’s a bad/good influence on him.
have influence over: He has a huge amount of influence over the city council.
exert influence: Christopher hoped to exert his influence to make them change their minds.
under the influence of: At the time she was under the influence of her father.
determine
to control or influence something directly, or to decide what will happen
ex: The number of staff we can take on will be determined by how much money we’re allowed to spend.
engage
to employ someone
ex: I have engaged a secretary to deal with all my paperwork.
to become involved, or have contact, with someone or something
ex: She’s an intelligent child but in class she doesn’t really engage.
establish
to start a company or organization that will continue for a long time
ex: The brewery was established in 1822.
legally
as stated by the law
ex: Children under 16 are not legally allowed to buy cigarettes.
morally
based on principles that you or people in general consider to be right, honest, or acceptable
ex: Morally, you’re right, but in practice I don’t think it would work.
ex: For a teacher to hit a child is not just morally wrong but also illegal.
bind
to tie something or someone tightly or to fasten something
ex: They bound the packages with brightly coloured ribbon.
ex: Bind together the two broken ends.
ex: The prisoner was bound hand and foot.
obligate
to force someone to do something, or to make it necessary for someone to do something; to bind legally or morally
ex: The law obligates financial institutions to make monthly reports on large transactions.
ex: The contract obligated them to pay hundreds of pounds monthly to a private recruiting firm.
