Contract Forms, Conditions of Contract, Specifications, Drawings, Addenda, Contract Modifications
Difference between Bidding Requirements and Bidding Documents
Bidding Requirements is the first component of the stack WITHIN the Bidding Documents.
Bidding Documents is the whole document that excludes the contract modification.
What is required in the “Instruction to Bidders”?
It is a section that is required for the consistency of the bids. - Preparation consist of > Forms > Completeness > Unit Price Math > Non erasable > Seal
- Submission consist of
> How/What/When to submit the bid documents
> Bonding, Opening, Revisions included
What is “Alternative to Tender”?
Tender may submit alternative tender that may change the materials/product design/equipment from those approved under Contract Documents.
Alternative Tender must be included in the Contract Documents
What does Addenda do?
Any change in detail, additions, corrections and contract conditions BEFORE BIDS OPEN.
Any discrepancies in the bidding documents must respond/issue addenda to all bidders.
Process of that change must be stated clearly to all bidders.
Becomes part of the bid documents and will be issued as addendum.
What happens when the bid is accepted?
The contractor and owner has agreed and accepted the bid therefore they will create contract B.
What does Contract B include?
7 things:
- Description of the work, including time frame
- Contract Documents
- Contract Price
- Payment method
- Contact information
- Language
- Succession/Expected outcome
Define General Conditions of the Contract
Rules governing contractual requirements that are not specific to a particular project (general ideas)
Use to define responsibilities of the parties to the contract
Describes the guidelines that will be used in the administration of the contract.
Define Supplementary Conditions
Supplementary Conditions are little stack within Conditions of Contract
- Rules specific details to the project that modify the general conditions
What is expected from the General Contract Standard Form? (Quality wise)
Best use in Standard Industry Formats
Used as an entire thing. Submit with absolute small certainty of changes
—> changes can be done through Supplementary Conditions
Should NOT be retyped!
What is included in the Drawing?
Drawing is the last part of the stack and it may include

- Electrical
- Mechnical
- Civil works
- Architects
- Landscape Architects
