What is withdrawal?
Male withdraws his penis from the vagina just before he ejaculates.
What is the rhythm method?
Having intercourse based on the menstrual cycle where there should be no eggs available in the Fallopian tubes.

Condom

What is a condom?
Worn by the male to prevent sperm from entering the vagina. Thin rubber coated with a lubricant and prevents disease.
What is cap or diaphragm?
Used in females and blocks sperm from entering the uterus.
What is a IUD?
Made of plastic and put into the uterus by a doctor who inserts them through the vagina. They prevent the embryo from implanting in the lining of the uterus. They can be removed
What are chemical methods of contraception? (2)
Spermicides
Douching
What are Spermicides?
Creams,sprays or tablets that kill sperm placed in the vagina just before sex.
What is douching?
A vaginal syringe or douching bag used to sway sperm in the vagina before there is any chance of conception.
What are hormonal methods of contraception?(3)
The pill
The injection
Emergency contraception
What is the pill?
Oral contraceptive taken by female to prevent the ovaries from releasing eggs. During pregnancy certain hormones prevent the release of eggs these chemical substances are in the pill.
What is the injection?
Acts in the same way as the pill but last 3 months
