CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION: Physicians and other licensed practitioners privileged through the medical staff process must participate in CE. Participation must be documented and considered in decisions about reappointment, renewal, or revision of individual clinical privileges. Documentation of attendance can be done in several ways, including but not limited to: obtaining copies of program certificates; obtaining a copy of the information submitted with a license renewal application when CMEs are required by the state; obtaining an attestation statement from the licensed practitioner(s) which attests to his / her attendance at CME programs that relate to their area of practice, with the stipulation that proof of attendance and program content will be submitted upon request.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION: Components of practitioner qualifications and demonstrated competencies include maintenance of continuing education. Evidence of continuing educational activities every two years may be requested

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION: MS.9 All individuals with delineated clinical privileges shall participate in continuing education that is as required by state licensure renewal, maintenance of registration or certification, and the organization in order to be eligible for clinical privileges. SR.1 The organization shall have a process to validate that continuing education and / or training required by the organization is met prior to the granting or renewal of those affected clinical privileges. SR 1a Documentation shall be made available and considered in decisions for appointment, reappointment, and clinical privileging. SR.1b Action on an individual’s application for appointment / reappointment or initial or subsequent clinical privileges is withheld until the information is available and verified
