Differences in temperature and precipitation depending on how in-land you are

A
More extreme seasonal temperatures
Lower precipitation

Why does continentality occur?
A
The difference in heat capacity between land and water.
Water has a HIGHER heat capacity - it absorbs and releases heat more SLOWLY.
Land has a LOWER heat capacity - it absorbs and releases heat more QUICKLY.
