A noble character who has a flaw in their personality which leads to their downfall.
Tragic hero
A fatal flaw in a character’s personality. For example, Romeo’s hamartia could be that he makes decisions quickly.
Hamartia
A sudden twist or change of circumstances for the tragic hero.
Peripeteia
When the tragic hero realises something important relating to their downfall.
Anagnorisis
A feeling of fear and pity that the audience has for the tragic characters.
